IT'S CALLED RESPECT

You betta know it…and it’s about time!

by telka on Aug 4, 2009 2:44 PM EDT reply actions

It's not really respect more than it is an example of a title contender being showcased by the NBA.

This is normal.

Definitely good to see this team getting more exposure

But the defending Eastern Conference Champs couldn’t get their first game nationally televised?

That’d be too much. Hah.

Freaky - Wednesday is the only day we have more home games than away games

Schedule looks fairly benign – no late-night West Coast games with an East Coast game the next day. The closest would be @ LA on 1/18 and Indiana (at home) 1/20. January’s not going to be fun, though.

We do face all the top east teams 4x though, and many of the cupcakes 3x

New Jersey, Milwaukee, New York, Chicago(not a cupcake) all 3x

Cleveland, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Toronto, Philadelphia, Detroit, Washington, Indiana all 4×.

Still… Not having a road trip longer than 4 games is sure nice.

Would rather have a brutal January

Than a brutal March/April.

Looking for forward to it. Should be a good test.

Nice the Magic have a pretty easy start to our schedule which will give us time to gell

The Magic had better stomp the new Detroit Pistons. I’m sick of losing to them

agreed re the pistons

with dice, sheed and chauncey now gone, they CAN’T own us any more. i was VERY nervous to play them in the first round last year, and still think we may have lost to them if we’d have drawn them (and we came incredibly close to doing so). how different would we all feel about everything right now if we’d have had a first round exit at the hands of the pistons?? extremely happy that team has disbanded!

The Pistons paranoia needs to stop, and it needs to begin this season.

Actually,I would love if Orlando gets them in the 1st round, that would be a helluva way to start ’offs.

I feel ya, man

I was actually hoping to get them last year. To get the “monkey off our back”, so to speak.

by bandrewg08 on Aug 5, 2009 8:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Thank God I wasn't the only Magic fan that was VERY nervous about drawing Detroit in the playoffs

The only problem I see that we will have with Detroit is if Ben Gordon comes of the bench. Gordon can score at will on any of our backup wing players. Pietrus may be too big to chase Gordon around the floor

by Souwantmyname on Aug 4, 2009 5:34 PM EDT up reply actions

detroit is a normal, mid-tier team now. i just hope that

hamilton, prince and stuckey don’t teach gordon and villanueva that they’re supposed to own us now. i mean, who are their bigs, villanueva, maxiell and kwame?? rubbish. dice used to absolutely OWN us — that’s part of the reason i wanted him on our squad so badly.

Weird that we start and end the season at home against the Sixers.

Here's how i'd rank the top-8 most interesting teams to come to town this year

Anybody disagree?

1. Lakers (championship rematch + Artest)
2. Cavs (ECF rematch + the Big Douchenozzle)
3. Celtics (Ubuntu + Sheed)
4. Spurs (The Big 3 + Dice and RJ)
5. Raptors (Should be a good team this year + Bosh + Turk)
6. Nuggets (WC Finalist + Melo + Chauncey + Birdman)
7. Heat (One reason: DWade)
8. Pistons (Can we reverse the curse?)

by pinthatd12 on Aug 4, 2009 6:23 PM EDT reply actions

Not a bad list.

Personally, I can’t wait to see the Thunder roll into town. Seriously.

I feel you, man

Probably my 3rd favorite team behind the Magic and Spurs. KD’s gotta be my favorite player outside of the Magic and I love Russ’s game. Plus they got a good crop of rookies this year. Also rooting for Shaun Livingston’s comeback.

good call re the thunder

i have to agree with that. maybe you slot them in after the raps and ahead of the nugs. not sure i can put jersey above any of these teams — the nets are just too god-awful.

by pinthatd12 on Aug 4, 2009 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

Nets are awful, yes

Looking more forward to Courtney and Vince playing their former teams

by bandrewg08 on Aug 4, 2009 11:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't think the Nets will be too bad.

Harris is an All-Star, Lee will improve, ditto with Lopez. I wasn’t too impressed with Terrence Williams in Summer League, but nevertheless, he’ll see plenty of minutes. I think New Jersey will be okay.

It'll be interesting to see how Harris takes over being THE leader

They have a lot of young pieces to like and will have a real good core for the next few years, but I don’t really see them doing much this year.

Can’t wait til they come to play us, though.

any chance we lure durant away

in a couple years, when he becomes an FA and VC’s deal is up? how good would we be with d12 and kd as a neWcleus?

by pinthatd12 on Aug 4, 2009 9:23 PM EDT reply actions

Hmmmmm....

My concern with getting Kevin Durant is (obviously) cost, monetarily and player personnel. Plus the fact that I believe he’d really stay with Oklahoma City because they gave him the opportunity to be the player he is and will be. Many players say that they’d stay with their teams, but I actually believe him.

But don’t get me wrong, I’d be happy to see him come here if that were possible (and we didn’t have to give up too much).

No Mas Kobe and Lakers

I yearn for the xmas day that I do not have to be subjected to neither Kobe Bryant nor the Lakers. I mean if Kobe is such the family man he is, why does the NBA keep pulling him away from his family on xmas!?!? Geez….

Hope you enjoy your family and the rest of the day’s lineup.

Even more than the Shaq and Penny era?
