[Matt] Barnes' agent, Aaron Goodwin, told him that Dallas, Cleveland, Orlando and the Lakers (pre-[Ron] Artest) were the first teams showing interest in him but nothing about the Suns.
Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Magic are among the teams interested in the services of swingman Matt Barnes, who is unlikely to re-sign with Phoenix

This is something I can support, I think
Barnes is, at worst, replacement-level. He can mop-up minutes at the 2, 3, and possibly the 4 if things get hairy.
And for the minimum, or something close to it? Not bad.
This would be a great addition that no one is talking about
Versatile and a good shooter. Perfect off the bench, IMO.
that's about what to expect
Matt is a tough for sure and athletic but he can fall in love with his jump shot despite going like 2 for 73 and at least in Phx had no conscience shooting the ball at any time.
He’s a frustrating player who will impress you one day and you will want to kill the next. Mostly he’s just not a smart or disciplined basketball play but he is talented. I don’t know how he would fit w/ SVG. That strikes me as trouble waiting to happen although he was Gentry’s favorite whipping boy and took a lot of public verbal abuse without too much complaint.
On balance after a pretty decent season we Suns fans aren’t sad to see him go. Take that for what it’s worth and PLEASE don’t expect him to start or play really anything other then the 3 for more then 20 mpg.
Blogging Suns Basketball
He's similar
Except Matty wasn’t drafted in the 1st round.

No mistakes in the tango, darling. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
That's partly due to the system Gentry plays.

I like it.
I think Matt Barnes a perfect fit. Shoots the 3 and Defends well.. I think the price will be right. Pietrus needs to break out the sales pitch.

I don't know about defends well ..
.. the stats indicate otherwise, but I think he’d be an okay fit for the Magic at a cheap price.

Eh... I guess.
Barnes is a mediocre outside shooter — that’s my main issue with him. But he does have a three, albeit a low-percentage one. Playing him fifteen MPG or whatever wouldn’t kill us.
Yeah, and we broke your damn shot clock too.
Can't be too picky.
.. have to find someone that fits the system and go from there.

Yeah, I guess I'm a little too tied to the notion of finding a strong SF/SG sixth man type.
(Or a starting SF, so Pietrus can become that sixth man.) But realistically, that guy’s not really out there, and if he were, we couldn’t afford him. A guy like Barnes is an NBA-level player, and certainly won’t lose us games. (And while I’m not quite sure why the Suns played him 30+ mpg last year, it does show that he has the stamina and durability to take on extra minutes if Pietrus gets hurt.)
Yeah, and we broke your damn shot clock too.
I think Barnes is a decent option coming off the bench.

Doubt it.
Haven’t heard anything Kleiza or Hill (he’s looking to be headed to Boston).

rather have moon but barnes rebounds better and passes better , 2 things we need to improve, plus i like moons personality better. i think barnes can do everything that we would need ariza or marion to do for less money.overall i gues i would like the move.
Barnes would be okay.

Barnes vs Ariza/Marion
Obiviously i am biased because i love Ariza (not more than Artest though, lol), but there is no way you can compare Ariza with Barnes. Ariza is on another level. Barnes is an ok role player. Ariza is one of the best role players, if not the best, in the league. Marion is also on another level. A former all-star which has been stuck in a non-flattering system.
Barnes is ok, but i doubt he will improve your team much. Just fill a roster role. Although there is nothing against him improving in the future.
He'd be too expensive for the Magic.

I disagree. I think Nesterovic can be had cheaply, and in the Magic's price range
In terms of dollars, I think it’s feasible that the Magic could split the MLE on Nesterovic and Barnes.
Maybe,and that's good
I didn’t check,I just think I remember reading that he makes about 5-6 mil $…
My bad.
I would love...
To see Matt Barnes in a Magic jersey.
totally off subject but,
I can officially blog from my blackberry now. I’m loving this.
Life's too short. Be a fan. Magic, Cards and Rays! What a winning combo.

Matt Barnes would be great!
He can do everything, except maybe score.
He’s thin, but long and wiry, and plays harder than his actual weight. He can pass, defend, and shoot the 3. Can play the 2 or 3.
I think he’d be a good backup to Pietrus and Carter when we need D at the 2-guard position.
