Vince Carter would like to see the Orlando Magic sign fellow former North Carolina Tar Heel Rasheed Wallace. [...]

"He’s a veteran guy who knows how to play the game first and foremost," Carter said. "He’s an unbelievable shooter. He’s very smart and he’s a motivator. Just from playing against him, he knows how to play basketball and he makes very [few] mistakes on the court. So, I think that’s big for our team.

"A guy like that who makes [few] mistakes at that level can get the team over the hump, because he’s been there. Not only has he been in the Finals, he’s won one. He knows what it takes to win. So, hopefully, we can bring him aboard, and I’m doing all that I can."

There’s no doubt in my mind…
J. Nelson
V. Carter
R. Lewis
R. Wallace
D. Howard

That’s a championship lineup if I’ve ever seen one. Not to gloat but I did say before the 09 season started that Sheed would be a great fit/signee in the summer 09 FA season but I was quickly dismissed.

Sheed is done, and he's one of my fav people/players in the NBA....

..but stick a fork in him already, and he has been for a while now.

Dude was barely motivated, even when the Pistons were winning.

I’m stunned so many teams are falling over themselves for him, some is gonna overpay him badly.

Testify!

I agree, I don’t see why everyone is so worked up about acquiring him. He’s washed up and past his prime.

Is Rasheed Wallace past his prime? Sure.

.. but he still has a year or two left in him and can help a team win a championship. The fact that he’s wanting to sign with a title team means he will be motivated because he has something to play for.

His lack of motivation in the past had more to do with his coaches .. in my opinion, at least.

Sheed to Boston?

Chris Broussard ESPN senior writer is stating that it will come down to Boston or San Antonio. He said Wallace would most likely end up in Boston. Conflictiong reports, ESPN radio seems to think he will end up in San Antonio, either way its not looking good for the Magic, probably why they are pursuing Bass. Please come to Orlando Mr. Wallace, the new twin towers. Man that would be awesome. Lets go Magic!!!

The way I see it . . .

Rasheed ought to improve us by AT LEAST 4 games . . . those being the 4 games he would otherwise be playing against us!!

Rasheed has ALWAYS been one of those players that seems to have Dwight’s number and I’d just as soon not have to play against him anymore.

I REALLY hope we get him but if not then DEFINITELY NOT Boston! I’d much rather San Antonio in that event.

As much as he's slipped recently...

He’s still a big with that size, defensive capability, who can still space the floor and play inside or outside next to Dwight…it doesn’t get much more ideal than that.

The Magic are the defending ECF. They don’t need the old Rasheed, they need one who can fit a role SVG specifies.

One caveat: I just can’t see Wallace and SVG coexisting. At least not for more than a year. If SVG’s harping wears on Gortat and Howard, then I can’t imagine what it’d do to Rasheed. As a 1-year flier, though, I think it’s not as big a risk as people think (but I have no idea what kind of contract he’s looking for).

Rasheed Wallace was looking for the full MLE, which he got from the Celtics.

Otis already stated that he plans on splitting the MLE, so that put the Magic behind the 8-ball.

I dont think its fair to blame him. These kind of deals all have the same money offer from alot of teams, and then the FA picks the city/team they like the most.

Can't blame him.

He felt, and I would agree (though I did want to see Rasheed Wallace land in Orlando), that it would have gone against his plan to commit the full MLE to ‘Sheed. The Magic didn’t have the money.

I would expect for Bass be the main target.

.. not sure if McDyess is an option, but I’m sure Otis will explore the possibility.

I agree.

Hill, Barnes, or Kleiza manning the 3 would be great.

Can Hendrix play the 5?

Maybe. He's got the size but not the height.
