Hey Otis...Sign Linas Kleiza

Dude is a beast at SF. He shoots the three, he can take it to rack, he plays decent defense, and he has size. Him with Pietrus would be a nice spark off of the bench.

Most importantly, he can be had for part of the Mid Level Exception. Him and McDyess (who'll probably stay in DET) along with Hendrix from the summer league team would give us a hell of a roster.

Otis, sign him!!!

Part of the MLE wouldn't be enough for Kleiza.

Even then, I doubt he’s on Otis’ radar.

so quick to dimiss everything.

Got sources? I’ve heard his agent wants MLE money, but every single site on the internet is saying he’ll sign for less than the MLE.

I'm not dismissing it .. just pointing out certain things.

Money makes no different if he’s not a target for the Magic, which again .. I doubt he is.

Would he be a nice fit? Sure, but I’ve seen no indications that Orlando is going after him.

We keep hearing that Otis wants to split the MLE,

but yet we only get linked to players that want the whole thing. I think Otis has his eyes on players that will get signed in the second week of free agency…and Kleiza is certainly on that list, along with Barnes, Desmond Mason, Diogu, et al.

I'm new to Otis

Is he usually open about who he plans on targeting? Some GMs are, some aren’t.

Did you hear anything about Vince Carter?

Rafer Alston? Tyronne Lue?

Otis is very much a cards close to the chest kind of guy.

Otis !!!

Please make some moves!!! I hate this idle time!! We are out of the lime light already!! ESPN guys are not even giving us a chance with the guys we have compaired to BC, Clev. and even DPistons!! That stinks!!

It's early .. Otis likes to play things close to the vest.

That’s how it was for the Rafer Alston trade, that’s how it was for the Vince Carter trade, etc.

Otis

Better flop a royal flush on this hand then cuz LAL, CLE, SAS and now BOS are sure as hell upping the ante. Lakers are all in.

Well

I’d say that Carter was a pretty big aquisition. Even if he didn’t do much else, I don’t think Otis has allowed Orlando to stand idle and fall behind.

by Worthy J. on Jul 2, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, Otis has been relatively busy.

.. he knows there’s still work to do. I’m not worried.

Agreed

I really had no idea we were in the mix for either of those players until the deals went down. It essentially has me checking the web every hour or so to see what out of left field move he’s pulled next.

Personally

I am beating the Matt Barnes drum..

I would take Kleiza over Barnes andyday.

Although I don’t consider myself a JJ fan, I do believe he will become a solid role player if he can finlly play a season where his spot in the rotation is safe. Adding a 2/3 swingman like Barnes will only thwart his progress—Think Jameer w/ Carlos and Keyon playing behind him.

I’m content with our rotation at PG, SG, and PF. All we need are backup SF and C. Vet min players and summer leaguers can fill in roster spots 11-15.

by TragicMatt on Jul 2, 2009 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions

You said all we need is a backup sf

That is Matt Barnes.

IMO Barnes>Kleiza

Whose progress with Barness Thwart? Our young rookie is gone. We have team full of vets SG/SF

Barnes could play the 2, the 3, and heck, even the 4 (or the 5, with the Warriors).

Kleiza can play the 3 and 4. I like either player.

I'd rather have Kleiza

mainly because every time I see Barnes I want to punch him in the face.

by Lee for three on Jul 3, 2009 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Fair enough..

Why do you want to punch him in the face?

by Wmillion on Jul 3, 2009 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions

I think the better question is

why DONT you want to punch him in the face?

Haha, honestly I can’t explain it. He just looks like a prick and his actions on the court haven’t really dissuaded me of that.

If the good Bigs are out of the market, it makes no sense not to get a look at Kleiza..

It keeps the “hybrid 4” lineup, Kleiza can be had for MLE or less, Kleiza can go to 4 too, everything the fanpost says above, and I talked about him in my fanpost too. He’s perfect, and if hes still on the market after many other Magic targets are gone, then maybe we can expect to hear of him. Remember Magic are heavy title contenders, and Kleiza could even be the potential starter.
Nelson- AJ
Carter- JJ
Kleiza- MP
Lewis- RA
Dwight- Milovan lol.

Here is a great article detailing the mid level FA's (2-5 million)

http://www.probasketballnews.com/story/?storyid=612

It is worth noting that the reason Kleiza hasn’t been talked about too much is because he is a restricted FA. However, Denver is not expected to resign him, due to the money they will need to resign Birdman and Dahntay Jones.

Need Players !!!

If we can get a REALLY good C and PF that would be great!!! As for filling the bench to meet the min. player amounts, "I" will take one of those positions for VERY CHEAP!! $250,000 to say $500,000!! We will not go so deep into the L-tax that way!! LOL!!

Otis, lets not wait until all the good players are gone!!

Cavs are interested

From Brian Windhorst, one of the finest beat writers in the biz:

The Cavs have also been in contact with Linas Kleiza, though I don’t get the impression anything is serious there yet.

Link.

by Ben Q Rock on Jul 2, 2009 10:48 PM EDT reply actions

Thanks Ben

Right, look at the negatives of Cle and Bos acting like this in the market too, playing for every good FA pretty much publicly like its a ladder system heading down and down, and many players may be feeling no love with so many other potential players in play and that were above them first. Another good reason to stay quiet, when you’re contacted by the Magic, they want you period.

by derekk on Jul 2, 2009 11:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, Windhorst is one of the best beat writers around.

Yeah

plus he was on that Arizona team that blew that 15 point lead to Illinois w/like 3 mins to go that essentially cost me my bracket pool that year.

….Screw him.

Sheed has not accepted Boston’s offer yet after all that woo’ing from Boston. Says he wil actually have meetings with other teams next week. He is very smart about it, weighing all the options.

I'm a big Kleiza fan

He’s had periods where he put together starter level play for Denver. I believe that if we got him, it’d be a dogfight between him and Air France for the start. They’re both good players that didn’t get the chance their talent deserved playing for their previous team (assuming Kleiza moves).
