How will Brandon Bass fit in?
Zach McCann of Orlando Magic Daily breaks down the ways in which Brandon Bass could fit into the Magic's rotation. Does he start up front with Rashard Lewis and Dwight Howard? Is he the first big man off the bench? And what of Mickael Pietrus?
Great stuff.

Nice article
Options A and B are really the only ways I see the Magic going in. Mark it down Ryan Anderson will not start 4 the Magic.

I'm probably one of the few that is for Option C (Starting Anderson)
Keeps the floor spread for Dwight, where we were at our best last year. The team just struggled to get into a rhythm when Battie or Gortat were at the 4. Yes, Stan will eventually have to come up with a way to get Bass and Dwight to play together, but we will have an easier time scoring with Ryan starting, because of its similarities to last year’s lineup.
Also, MP and Bass are probably better suited to come off the bench, not because they are less talented, but because they play with a lot of energy. I think we maximize the use of our best seven players by bringing those two off the bench.

thats interesting
it did mean a lot for us when dwight came out and got a double double in the first quarter. it could be easier for him to get in rhythm by coming out strong with a similar line up as last year. but something that hasn’t been addressed this offseason… what’s dwight going to do this summer to improve his offensive game? i think that has a lot to do with everything
Nah' mean, nah'm sayin

I say start Bass with Ryan Anderson coming off the bench for PF
Then we can get BB, Anderson, and Rashard all playing time. Put Pietrus at the SG as a backup for VC. When, if, we sign Matt Barnes, he can back up Rashard at the 3. Then, everyone will get significant playing time except JJ Redick.

IF............
We all like Mickael Pietrus as the sixth man then it would be best for him to come in at the 2 and let Vince Carter slide to the 3.
At this point the argument is between starting Brandon Bass and Ryan Anderson, which in return means that Rashard Lewis would be starting at the 3 spot.
Rashard Lewis should start the game at the 4 because it creates a mismatch to begin the game, we all agree that scenario has been succesful…yes?
If we sign Matt Barnes, I would start him. Here is why: 1.) He has more minutes played and more starts than either of the previous options. 2.) He is a better rebounder and can defend taller players better than Mickael Pietrus. 3.) When he went back to the warriors in 07/08 he had a great postseason where Mickael Pietrus all but backed him up. 4.) He has the ability to defend 3 positions. 5.) He is coming off of a career year, starting half the season for the Phoenix Suns, averaging 10.2, 5.5, 2.8 in 27 minutes. Not bad.
My starting lineup would look like this:
Jameer Nelson 6-0 190
Vince Carter 6-6 220
Matt Barnes 6-7 226
Rashard Lewis 6-10 230
Dwight Howard 6-11 265
Mickael could spell Barnes, shifting Carter to the 3. Then Bass could spell Carter shifting Lewis to the 3. Then Anderson could spell Lewis. There is your 8 man rotation. Then “whoever” spells Nelson and Howard. Ok, I’m getting long-winded but you catch my drift.
Second team looks like this:
Anthony Johnson
JJ. Redick
Mickael Pietrus
Ryan Anderson
Brandon Bass
Someone in the title article questioned the wear and tear of Rashard Lewis at the power forward spot. With the combination of his minutes at the position and his excellent fitness he should be just fine, the guy is a lean mean machine, have you seen him? Ok, that’s it.

Option C
wouldn’t be that bad, but I still reserve my judgement for when we have our roster set.
And this was a fun read, but nooo one knows right now, haha.

Option D...
Bass as a backup to Dwight, with some time spent at the 4 when we need two bangers. There aren’t a whole lot of offensively gifted backup centers, and BB played center competently for Dallas last season. Lineup:
PG: Nelson/Johnson(/Robinson)
SG: Carter/Redick
SF: Pietrus(/Powell)
PF: Lewis/Anderson
C: Howard/Bass
I’d still like another SG/SF type to round out our twelve, but I like Bass at backup C better than I like shuffling Lewis to the 3 or burying Bass in the depth chart.

Hey Ben, on an unrelated note . . .
The link for Puns Are Starting to Bore Me should be updated on the left side of the home page under ‘Magic Coverage’ since they moved to a new site.

A or C
B would be alright, but I think the 1st and 3rd option has the best potential.
