Can the Orlando Magic rally from a 2-0 hole to win their first NBA Finals game in 7 tries as a franchise? We'll find out tonight. Orlando overcame a 2-1 deficit in the Quarterfinals against Philadelphia and a 3-2 deficit in the Semifinals against Boston, but it has yet to face a 2-game deficit at any point in these playoffs. A Magic loss assures certain doom, while a win would give them some reason to hope for a championship going forward.
For the conspiracy theorists, note that tonight's officiating crew is composed of 2 of the 3 referees who officiated Game 3 of the Conference Finals against Cleveland, which saw both teams shoot a combined 86 free throws. Yikes.
Tip's at 9, and if the officials are whistle-happy, we might be here until midnight or later.

Certainly hard but not impossible
It is hard for me to believe all the panic going on around the national blogosphere. Orlando lost two games on the road. That is how it is supposed to happen. The Magic still have some home games to make up for lost time. And they certainly can do it.
Tonight is a must win, but Orlando should be able to win at least two of the three home games. I feel confident, the team can copy Miami’s success in from 2006.

I don't know.
All of the next 3 games are must-win. And to win 3 in a row,even at home,vs. Lakers,is an achievement.
But if,as you say,Magic win 2/3,then I really don’t see them winning the series.
Win in the game 7 is miracle,and we had ours for this year. It’s win 4-in-a-row-or-bust situation,IMO.
But,at least I’m pretty confident about tonight’s win.
Yeah, Orlando has to win 4 in a row.
.. in my opinion, at least. If the Magic go back to Los Angeles down 3-2 in the series .. let’s just say, if I was a betting man, I would bet on the Lakers closing out the series at home.

If Orlando wins just 2 of 3 at home...
it really shows how unfair the 2-3-2 system is to both teams. Orlando would have lost their chance to have home court in the series with no chance of earning it back for a Game Six. Or Los Angeles lost an opportunity to close the game out in five.
At least it is unfair to both. And the Magic have proven this postseason that anything can happen. Anyone remember Boston’s 32-0 thing?

It’s been pretty well demonstrated that the 2-3-2 system was implemented to increase revenue, because the series has a better chance of lasting longer.

Well, I (with the help of Neil Paine) laid out the parameters for why the 2/3/2 format ..
.. is what it is and what advantages and disadvantages it brings.
Orlando has proven anything can happen, but the team was able to make that 32-0 record turn into a 32-1 record because of the fact it had a home game in Game 6 to ease the difficulty of the task. I say again, if the Magic go back to Los Angeles down 3-2 in the series, I would bet on the Lakers closing it out. Winning two games in a row in L.A. is near impossible.
Yes, Orlando can do the near impossible .. but giving two home games for Kobe Bryant, Phil Jackson, and company to work with is too easy for them. This isn’t a depleted Boston Celtics team the Magic are dealing with. The circumstances are much different and more difficult.

The Lakers aren’t even playing him, so it is not like he has to overcome a fantastic defensive effort or anything. He just needs to convert his open shots.

With the exception of a very few, I haven’t read anywhere Magic fans crying about “biased refs” or any sort of league “conspiracy” leaning toward the Lakers. The fans know at this time of year you either get it done or you don’t.
The Lakers (and we as their fans) have been EXTREMELY fortunate that the great shooting the Magic carried all season long has gone icy at just the right time for us. Game 2 was a gift. We played well in spurts and bad in others. Had the Magic been able to get any sort of consistent production from Rafer, Lee or J.J. we’d be talking about an even series right now, no doubt.
I expect a totally different level of play from Orlando tonight. All that talk of a sweep or 5 games is dumb at best. The Magic are here because they are the BEST TEAM IN THE EAST (regardless of the crying and whining from Boston and Cleveland) and I think you’re going to see the real Magic come out in the next 3 games.
Good thoughts, man.
Like I said yesterday, the word of the day (and the next coming days, at that) is persistent. Orlando isn’t going to go down without putting up a fight. That’s the mindset the Magic have had all season.
Talking about the officiating and all that crap takes away the deserved talk of two great teams – Orlando and Los Angeles. We should be talking about Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu .. not officials. Let’s hope we have a good game tonight and may the best team win.

SVG is cracking me up on the pre game press conference talking about when he played ball
…Talking about how he didn’t get much playing time even though his dad was the coach. A reporter lists the amount of free throw attempts he had over 4 years and SVG deadpans “I got screwed on a couple calls”. Reporters were cracking up.
They then ask if Courtney has been taking a lot of heat about the missed shot and he says “Not from us. I’ve been too busy to read what anyone else has said. He’s not getting any heat from us.”
I’m gonna miss SVG press conferences this summer.

But at the same time, if Lee is doing an okay job with Kobe scoring all of LA’s points, at some point, it’s not all bad for Orlando.
How many players even make Kobe take tough shots? That takes time to learn. All my point is.

The Kings interviewed Eddie before he went to Philly
But, Marie, money was always a factor here. Sam said it repeatedly, and Westphal agreed to the money terms when he took the interview. Westphal wants back in I suspect, and he thinks the Kings are a great opportunity. It’s not like he was trying to get 3 other jobs.
This may turn out to be a great move for the Kings in hindsight. But, this can’t be stressed enough, Westphal won’t be worse than Reggie Theus or Kenny Natt. His staff will be better and what not.
Westphal is also a Petrie guy. Give me about an hour or two, and I’ll have all this up on my blog EC Inc. I’ll recap all of my thoughts. I’m trying to watch the game now. :)
