Around SBN: Miami Meltdown: Tempers Flare As Pacers Hammer Heat

Word of the Day: Persistent

persistent (adj.) - obstinately refusing to give up or let go; insistently repetitive

Via the Official Dwight Howard Blog:

We’ve just got to go home now and take care of business. The Lakers did a good job of protecting their home, and now it’s our turn to do the same thing. We’ve been in some tough situations and we’ve always been good about coming back. We’ve just got to fight our way out and I know that’s what we’ll do again this time.

This is going to be a long series and we’re a long way from done. Game 3 is all we’re  about, so let’s go get one win and really protect our homecourt the way the Lakers did. We still know we can do this. We tweak a few things here and there, we’ll be right back in this series before ya’ll know it.

Like Ive been saying

Magic are down, not out. If the LA fans and Lakers think we’re going down at Amway, theyre crazy. Magic in 7 like Ive been saying.

Orlando just needs to go down fighting.

.. whatever happens, happens.

Come on now...

IF this series goes 7 the Lakers win it. You don’t really believe a game 7 in Staples would have the magic winning, do you?

The Magic are a good team, but their only chance to win this series is to take 4 games in a row right now, which they are very capable of doing. Magic in 6 is infinitely more possible than Magic in 7.

Anything is possible with Orlando.

But I will say this, it’s been empirically proven that the “underdog” has a better chance of winning a seven-game series in the 2/3/2 format in 6 games, rather than 7 games. That’s the reality of it.

.. yeah, that crap is getting out of hand.

People need to drop the issue and move on. That goes for everyone.

Can we talk about talking about it?

Because this isn’t half as bad as the fuss made over “Elbowgate” between Kobe and Ron Artest. Now that was a drawn out topic.

Hah. I bet it was.

Orlando had its own “Elbowgate” with Dwight Howard earlier in the playoffs, too.

WE SHALL OVERCOME.

If we can just take care of the ball we should be allright. We actually outrebounded the Lakers by 9rebs.but we gave that away with the turnovers 20 T.O.’s to their 12. It never should have come down to that last shot.

.. just need to execute. Taking care of the ball is part of that.

Persistent... That's what we ARE!

We have been in pretty tough spots this season, and we have ALWAYS found our way out to the light.

Like Howard says, the Lakers are coming to OUR home; we BETTER be ready to whip their collective buts all the way to LA!!!

Let’s focus on defense, ball movement (minus the slopiness), rebounds and above all; PURE ADRENALINE! Play like there’s NO TOMMOROW; NO REGRETS; NO MERCY; it’s LIFE OR DEATH in Orlando for THREE days.

LET’S DO THIS!!!

The photo above.......

This was a foul called on Pietrus and he had his arms straight up…….Howard had the block ……refs better get their act together in O-town……this should not be tolerated…..wonder if these refs watch the video replays of these bad call…..must be alot of video to watch….Go Magic!!!

The refs in the NBA have, arguably, the toughest job in sports.

No benefit of instant replay, for the most part. Have to make split-second calls constantly. Yikes.

Refs

I remember when there were only 2 refs for a game! It all evens out in the wash-we should get the 50-50 calls tonight a bit more often. Every call in the NBA is like calling pass interference in the NFL or balls and strikes in MLB. Consistency is all we can ask for. We have to approach tonight’s game one possession at a time; as erivera7 says-if we execute on every trip as well as we can-we’ve got a chance and that’s all we can ask for! Go Magic! I still believe!

Yeah, just have to be consistent and execute. That's the key to every game from here on out.

I'm not going to bash the refs,

but there are two calls I would like to see go the way of the dinosaur. That would be the offensive player throwing themselves into the defender to draw a foul. It should be changed to a non-call, like when Fisher threw himself into Hedo in OT the other night. It rewards out of control, reckless drives to the hoop. On the same not, I’m sick of seeing players use the head fake to get their defender in the air, and then jumping/leaning into who ever is guarding them. Those two things are becoming more and more of a problem and it needs to stop.

Detras de ti, imbecil.

+1.

periodically, problems come out. That’s why the change is needed.
The players are more stronger & athletic than ever, and they are aware of the rules, and how to abuse them.
Quick fix would be to give the refs unleashed hands, and let them decide is something a foul, but that would bring up another problems,so i guess it’ll stay like this for a while.
But,it sucks BIG TIME.
