Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

I’m happy we got Vince and sad that some other guys had to go. I’m still holding out hope that we can get Turk back, too. Turk has been here for five years and I feel like I owe part of my development as a player to him. He’s one of the best passers I’ve ever played with in my career. If we can get him back we could be the team to beat next season. Without Turk, that would hurt us.

We’re trying to win a championship here right away. The NBA is a business, but sometimes it just hurts to see your teammates go.

As I said elswhere,I'm not sure what to make out of this.

They are pros,and it’ll be OK,but I think he disagrees/ed with trade a bit.

I read that's why he didn't make a statement right away.

Nothing wrong with speaking from the heart. And he has a big one. You can’t fault a person for that. He’s not only losing a friend but a great set-up man.

Yeah, it's tough but he understands it's a business.

I just hope

This doesn’t turn into a situation where Dwight begins to breed contempt against ownership and the front office. Sort of like what happened with T-Mac once Mike Miller was traded.

We know how temperamental these guys can be.

Doubt that happens. Orlando is exponentially in a better situation than when T-Mac was around.

To even compare the two is .. well, it’s not warranted. There’s no comparison. None.

Mike and Tracy were pretty ridiculously tight

I seem to recall the Sentinel running a story about them thinking about buying a house and living together with their girlfriends. Dwight and Turk are close, sure, but not that close.

I remember that story!

I wouldn't think so..

Since Turk was under contract and decided to opt out and get more money. If Turk was that tight with Dwight he would have played under his current contract.

Hes happy to have VC (and RA I hope!) for sure. He just lost 3 (possibly 4) great teammates and one of his best friends in C.Lee tho, I feel him, thats another reason I was against trading Lee for. But Dwight must realize there’s a very special chance to do something here with VC, Lewis, and Nelson the core players and thats field a more diverse roster with a healthy Meer, a always consistent Lewis, and a guy in VC who will go above and beyond in being a teammate facilitating Dwight and the others, as well as providing go to scoring no one on the previous roster could quite provide. I suspect the “hybrid 4” lineup to stay the same, a continued healthy overdose of the staple Magic plays like Pick and Rolls, and Dwight to get even more touches, and to dominate even more!
And I think Dwight has more roster additions complementing him to come soon. I wonder if Dwight and Jameer are keeping up with the Magic strategists and GM’ing like the Spurs keep Duncan and Parker updated on. No harm in it, especially after losing Lee and possibly Turk, there’s no harm and I’d imagine it’d make them appreciative of the work and process in getting them great players like VC to come over and play Magc basketball. It might take awhile into the season to mesh just perfectly once all the new changes and players are in, but I know with Dwight, Nelson, Lewis, and VC alone they will eventually click into that title level team.

Stan said it best in the VC presser.

When a player sees the team making a move to win, they respond positively to that.

it is a big deal to the team's chemistry...

But things will fall into place at the beginning of the season when new players play for the Magic. I would assume Otis will get it together when it’s all said and done.

Yeah, everything should work out.

I trust Otis and Stan to make everything fall into place.
