I've also heard San Antonio is quite interested in Marcin "Polish Hammer" Gortat, so perhaps he'll be lining up alongside Tim Duncan next season.

Andrew Kamenetzky of the L.A. Times reports the San Antonio Spurs are among the teams interested in the services of Magic center Marcin Gortat, a restricted free agent.

Spurs would be a good fit.

Not sure what type of minutes he’d get (with the Amir Johnson trade) or where the money will come from (with the Richard Jefferson trade), but who knows. It’s clear San Antonio isn’t done making moves. Gortat may start.

Definitely a strong possibility.

Great risk.

Yeah. Low-risk, high-reward type of move.

Thanks for the catch.

The best starting five in the west...

Parker, Ginobli, Jefferson, Duncan, and Hammer. Damn.

Gortat would fit in perfectly with that squad, he’s everything they need right now.

Yeah I was just going to say

if they sign Gortat on top of bringing Jefferson in…that’s the best team in the West if they stay healthy (big if though)

Still .. where's the money going to come from?

Unless the Spurs do some crazy roster maneuvering, I can’t see ’em having the money for Gortat.

I know they're willing to pay. After the RJ trade, the Spurs have committed to the tax.

Question is, how much are they willing to throw down? That’s what I’m curious about.

I agree.

I don’t understand how they have all this money.

Spurs are in the tax.

.. the RJ trade sealed the team’s fate, it appears. I see San Antonio going more for a guy like Antonio McDyess than Marcin Gortat, given the finances currently in play with both players.
