Around SBN: Identifying The 19th-Best Team In Baseball

I’ve never felt better about my place on this Magic team. This run to the Finals has strengthened my desire to stay here for a long time and carve out my place on this team.

JJ Redick writes on his official blog that he's happy in Orlando. I guess that means he won't demand a trade anytime soon.

This is awesome news =)

Im happy for JJ, and I think he really made some huge strides this season in his defense. Helping to defend Ray Allen in the series before. And becoming a great facilitater and passer for the Magic. He was so smart with passes and ball movement, esp. with the pick and rolls. If im Redick, Im making sure my shot is running at 40+% for next season and being more aggressive at taking more shots. I think his future is very bright.

Yeah, I'm happy for J.J. too.

Like I said before, he works his butt off so I’m glad he’s been able to carve a niche with the Magic.

I like J.J. but he's run his course here.

Between the Lee’s coming out party, the confidence SVG has in the kid and Pietrus’ emergence in the postseason, there really isn’t a spot for J.J. on this team, other than 4-8 minutes filling in for the first two on the depth chart in foul trouble situation or blow out games. He’s got to be moved for whatever Otis can get, maybe he built a little value with a solid postseason (J.J standards)

Depends on the Hedo situation...

If Hedo is moved or allowed to walk, then Pietrus suddenly plays a lot more minutes at the 3 (either as the starter or as Rashard’s backup when Shard moves to the 4). You also have to expect some sort of injury situation throughout the season, and when you consider the low cost of JJ’s salary, he is a pretty solid option on the bench.

You may be right in terms of a solid injury backup.

However, Pietrus at the 3 is something I don’t want to see.

If Hedo can’t be resigned, we’ll need to pick up a more traditional PF and move Shard back to the 3.

I'll have the full details in my SVG post tomorrow, but today he made it sound like Pietrus as the backup 3 is here to stay.

He said he considers MP a starter whether or not he starts, and that he likes bringing him off the bench because he’s really the only other 3 on the Magic’s roster, and if he starts at the 2 and gets into foul trouble, the Magic have to shuffle their rotation a bit when Hedo comes out of the game.

He didn’t say a word, in the 40-minute session (the entirety of which I have on tape), about palying Rashard at the 3 for brief stretches.

Maybe.

.. doesn’t hurt to have depth at the wing position, in case of emergency or matchup situations. I think Redick will stick around, mainly because Stan Van Gundy likes to keep his options open with the players.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :(

We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors.

I agree!

I hoping that having to re-sign Hedo will force us to trade him after next year.

My exact response after reading this.

JJ's value goes up

As Dwight’s offense ability goes up. As D12 becomes more dominant, JJ’s looks will go up. Dwight is still learning how to get post up position and how move without the basketball.

.. hopefully Redick can do a better job of hitting the open jumper with more consistency.

Yeah, be nice, another 3-D.

If he did that we could call him Tripple J.
