.. I always marveled at the Jordan Rules.
It was such an intricate defensive system. If you check out some of the YouTube videos out there that flesh out what the defensive principles were for the Jordan Rules, it’s amazing how detailed the strategy was .. and in the end, it helped fuel the Pistons past the Bulls multiple times in the playoffs before his Airness finally was able to break the system with teamwork. I have so many more memories but this one’s a start ..

my favourite memory about chuck
is this one,absolutely.
that was the time we started to watch nba as the kids, and show off in front of each other with our “knowledge”. we only heard of few players back then(it was war here in bosnia, after all),and i was the only one to know one coach’s name.
it was Chuck Daly.
Word.

KD points out it was Daly who freed Darrell:
That’s his legacy. The legacy that told him to move Penny Hardaway — “the next Magic Johnson” — out of the point guard slot, so that a former college punter and minor league veteran could handle the ball. The result of that? The Magic go from a .500 team to one winning nearly 2/3rds of their games, and Darrell Armstrong(notes) (the former punter) goes from the 12th man to one of the NBA’s best point guards.
Yup. I remember that move ..
.. Darrell Armstrong exploded in 1999.

Coach Daly deserves all the respect and accolades
…for coaching the Pistons to two world championships and the outstanding job he did with the Dream Team.
I always thought the Pistons were an excessively dirty team during Daly’s tenure (Laimbeer, Rodman and Mahorn being the main culprits), but I have to admit they were an awesome defensive team during that time thanks to Daly, and Daly got the most out of their talent.
After being eliminated in the playoffs by Detroit 3 straight seasons, Michael Jordan and the Bulls finally beat the Pistons in a resounding 4 game sweep in the 1991 Eastern Conference Finals.
It’s a credit to Daly’s coaching that they were able to beat Jordan and the Bulls for so long prior to that.

My favorite memory was....
when Chuck left Detroit for the Nets Rodman protested and didn’t want to play. Chuck has a private sitdown with Rodman and set him straight. Chuck was the Man.
The Surfdog
.. and the evolution of Rodzilla began.
