Breaking News: Courtney Lee Might Be In Uniform For Game 2

I deleted the FanShot I put up about the same story because, well .. I'm a nice guy and like to reward 3QC members with some front page time when applicable. - ER

Via the Orlando Sentinel:

BOSTON - After saying Tuesday he would not play, Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee might suit up tonight for Game 2 against the Celtics

It is still likely he will not play six days after undergoing sinus surgery, but the door is ajar, contrary to what he previously indicated.

"He. . . .may dress," Coach Stan Van Gundy said. "But he has done very, very little and he's trying to get used to that mask. I would be very surprised if you see him."

Lee quietly has been building a case to play, working out and shooting while wearing his protective mask late Tuesday. He also plans to head over early to TD Banknorth Garden and move and shoot some more with it on before the game.

Lee couldn't give a straight answer after participating in shootaround Wednesday: Will you dress out tonight?

"Have to see how I feel later on. I don't know yet. Take it one step at a time and see how I feel and make decisions on the fly."

It would be nice to have him as an option, but I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah, I agree, but...

…if we let their gaurds run wild you may see him out for defensive relief. I’m hoping that Court makes his first appearance off the bench on Friday, that would get the our crowd going for sure

If Lee plays, it'd bring a nice mental boost to the Magic.

We’ll see how it goes.

Welcome to 3QC, btw!

Is there good reasoning why a "basketball mask" has to be transparent?

Like for court vision or something? Otherwise, I would love for the Rook wear a crazy black mask with and angry red stripes slashed across it. That would be awesome.

It's not a rule...

Brandon Williams wore a black mask in 98-99. Almost a Zorro look.

Yeah, it's best for the mask to be transparent to maintain peripheral vision, etc.

Your suggestion is hilarious, though.

I was thinking clear up top for peripheral vision

and like awesomely gruesome blood drops at the bottom or something. Or like a tarantula or something. Or would that just freak me out? Haha

It would be but...

I think SVG should work him back in gradually. See how he does with the mask. A fractured sinus is pretty serious. It’s a miracle he’s back this fast. Gotta give him credit. Hope he’s up to par. He’s got a tough task there.

Would be nice..

To have him back, I think Ray is going to try kill JJ tonight.

Yeah, Ray wants retribution for being outscored by J.J. two nights ago.

Dwight Howard by the way was it me or was he less energized as he nomally would be. Is superman loosing his powers “OMG”. I hope that they prove evryone wrong who says its going to be a lakers vs cavaliers ending. Go Boston Celtics WIN WIN WIN!!!
