CLee already becoming like Rip

Just like I mentioned quite a few Fanshots ago, Courtney Lee will develop into a Rip Hamilton like player. With his above average defense, quickness, ability to hit shots off of screens, and very similar athletic ability, Courtney is starting to look like the Rip Hamilton that we saw in the 03 playoffs that came back and won after we were up 3-1. Courtney has shown us all that he was the right choice for us in last year's NBA draft (especially myself, who hated the draft pick of Lee instead of Arthur amongst other names of post players in the draft). I have never been so happy to be so wrong about a draft pick and I take back everything I have said in the past.

Also, If his size, athleticism, and other playing style hasn't convinced you yet, check this out: according to ESPN.com .....

"Lee was injured in Game 5 of Orlando's first-round series against Philadelphia on an inadvertent elbow by teammate Dwight Howard. Lee will have to wear a protective mask if he returns."

Looks like my comparison is becoming more and more true. I certainly hope the best for CLee11 and I hope he brings that Rip Hamilton game back to our team very soon.

THOUGHTS?

Im no NBA fashion expert...

…but maybe its the mask that helps Rip look hurt everytime he goes to the rip or takes a shot that makes him look like he’s getting hurt. Lets see if Courtney can do the same.

That Mask is Rip's good luck charm

He continued wearing it even after he recoverd from his broken nose. Its his Superhero mask and gives him his midrange J

Well, I think that Lee will learn to create contact instead of avoiding it as he gets more PT.

A couple of other things he’d need to work on are becoming more consistent with his jump shot and learning how to work a screen (or multiple screens) to get open. For the former, that again will come with time, and the latter will come as sets of plays start being run for him by SVG!

If there's one thing C. Lee is money from .. it's the corner three.

He’s 43/98 from the corners.

I'm with Ben.

.. Lee has a ton to improve on before we can even consider the comparison valid.

Ok, so maybe a comparison is a bit early, but...

…there are definitely some similar characteristics between the two that, if guided in the right direction, could allow CLee to become as effective, if not more, than Rip Hamilton and have a similar type of game based on Lee’s athleticism, speed, quickness, and potential. Agreed?

Riiiip ciiiiiiiiiiity Hamiiiiiiiiiiiilttooooon....Yessssir!

I would love to see Lee become like him. Fiesty defender who’s tough to gaurd on offense himself and has the best mid range J in the game. I only wish Rip took to the hole more.

Courtney needs to condition himself to run like Rip off screens a lot

I've always felt he has many similarities to Rip

And I’ve said it on here a few times. I think it’s the way he’s laterally very quick and certainly stronger then you expect from a skinny rook. Wirey strength like a Reggie Miller or Ray Allen-type body in the future.

Now he’ll be wearing a mask, he just needs some braids and we’ll be set for old-school Rip, part deux.
