Yeah, I don't think Sweeney really researched our cap situation.
Unless we trade pretty much our entire roster away except our starters, don’t resign Hedo, and ask Rashard to restructure his contract, we still won’t have enough cap space to sign Bosh and resign Dwight and Jameer in 2012! That may be a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea…
Yeah, the dude has no idea what he's talking about.

Actually the Dude does...
If you used ESPN’s trade Machine the numbers would work for a sign and trade with Hedo throwing Pietrus $5m contract in…let’s not be so negative people and hope Hedo opts out!!

While we are pipe-dreaming
how about we re-sign Gortat and then ship him and Jameer over to the Hornets for Chris Paul?
Then we can trade Rashard and Skip’s expiring contract to the Pacers for Danny Granger.
Hah.

Yeah, that comment irked me.

No way this can even happen with Dwight and Shard on the books, unless every other member of our team is Anthony Johnson or his equivalent.
It could happen if they could move Shard, but no one is taking on that contract.

Yeah, that's the only way it works (moving Lewis).

That doesn't even make sense, though.
Lewis is a better scorer than Bosh, he presents more matchup problems for opponents, he’s a better passer, and at this point, I’m pretty sure he’s a better defender as well. The only thing Bosh has over Lewis is rebounding — and honestly, we don’t need more rebounding desperately enough to completely rework the team.
Lewis isn't a better scorer than Bosh.

Lewis is definitely a better scorer.
Big men always look like better scorers than they are, because they get all those gimme points on putbacks, open dunks, etc. The kind of points any big man gets just by standing around the basket. (Howard being an example — he can overpower guys, but Lewis is definitely the more dangerous scorer, despite their PPG stats being similar.) If Bosh played for the Magic, he wouldn’t get a lot of those points — Howard would. And the ones Bosh got would just decrease the number Howard got. They’d be working at cross purposes on offense.
Moreover, Lewis definitely has the more varied offensive game. And he can shoot the three — he’s the best three-point shooter in the NBA — which is crucial. Bosh has a few post moves — I’d like to see him try post moves with Howard (and Howard’s defender) already in the lane — and a mediocre mid-range jumper. He also has the seeming inability to recognize that he shouldn’t be shooting the three.
Bosh is basically Jermaine O’Neal — a good PF who’s not a dominant scorer or a dominant player. He’s very good at exploiting the opportunities for scoring and rebounding that come to a good big man. But he doesn’t have any really amazing strengths. He is reliably very good, and that’s also his peak.
Mute points....
The point is not who the better scorer is…because we wouldn’t trading Lewis…and he would be moving to his more natural and prefferred 3 spot. We would be signing and trading Turk and Pietrus or battie…or hell both if they wanted them!! Let’s face it…as nice as Toronto is as a city…no NBA star really want to go there. The Raptors only chance at assembling any kind of roster is to trade for plyers already under contract. Turk and Petruis would be good pickups for them, players in their prime who have shown they can be starters. For us they are both expendable if we get Bosh in return so Lewis can slide to the 3 and C.Lee can start at the 2 with JJ backing him up.

Sign and trade Turk along with Pietrus
You want slashers? No problem..we’ve got two of them for you…..and we’ll gladly sign and trade Turk and throw in Pietrus for 5m in return for Bosh-O-Matic2010. Besides…don’t you need a few more foreign players on Toronto:)
