Game 5's referees

Just for the heck of it, here's the rankings for the referees for Game 5 of the Magic-Cavaliers series. There were 61 officials who called at least 10 regular-season games. These stats are out of those 61.

Dan Crawford - officiated 30 games. #55 in fouls called, #50 in home foul margin. A whistle-swallower whose crews only very slightly favors the home team (by 0.2 fouls per game).

Marc Davis - officiated 31 games. #16 in fouls called, #42 in home foul margin. A slight whistle-swallower who favors home teams by 0.7 fouls per game.

Bill Spooner - officiated 29 games. #32 in fouls called, #60 in home foul margin. Almost perfectly average on number of fouls called, but favors visiting teams by 1 foul per game. The only official less friendly to the home team is Monty McCutchen.

Thoughts: This is one of the worst officiating crews for a home team to get. Somehow, all three officials are in the bottom third for home foul margin. The NBA's just begging for conspiracy theorists to have a field day with their choice of officiating crew.
