The starting word of the day is always Execute

Although Support’s not a bad word to bring off the bench

That waiting in the dark like destiny
Are those who kissed the dogs of war
And there is no tomorrow."

Well, I already did execute ..

.. and didn’t want to rehash it again, so next best word I could think of was support.

Stick with superstition.

I’m normally not a superstitious person, but I’ve been following the same routine since Game 1 & Game 3.

Other words for today ...

Magic when to see or sense blood (2-1 series lead, 4th game @home) go in for the kill without mercy or compassion. Don’t give these jokers (“Cavs”) no reason to be hopeful going back home for the 5th game.

If you get a picture of LBJ tonight on the bench picking and biting his finger nails, then the East Conference Championship is yours!

Yeah, the team needs to play with the same level of desperation that the Cavs will play with tonight.

If Orlando can match the intensity level of Cleveland, then everything should work out okay.

Your thoughts

On zoning Lebron tonight and doubling Lebron tonight, to try to get the ball out of his hands earlier?

"No matter where you go, you are what you are playa"-Jay Z

by Wmillion on May 26, 2009 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions

No zone. Dwight .. sorta zones because he roams around the paint, but ..

.. it wouldn’t be a good idea, just because the Magic need to play LeBron straight up. Can’t give James the opportunity to pass to his teammates because if they get going, then Orlando is in trouble. SVG has the right strategy, play everyone straight up. I know it’s hard because LBJ has monster games, but it hasn’t mattered with his teammates doing little.

Can we get "The Lineup" Earlier

CLee
Peitrus
Hedo
Shard
D12

If the refs call in straight up we don’t lose. NO more ticky tack on Dwight and No more calling Ticky tack for LBJ.

It's all situational. Can't play it too much because then the Cavaliers can adjust.

.. SVG will use that lineup when he feels it’s appropriate. I trust his judgment.

I agree.

We just Raf to play at a high level. Raf’s floater is the worse in the nba. He might want to try a stop and pop-25% with the floater. He gets to the rim, but his conversion rate is really low.

We need to do what the Nuggets did last night too, attack the basket.

Fo sho. Orlando just needs to keep doing the same things ..

.. attack the basket (as you said), ball movement, dribble penetration, etc.

i think thats my favorite line up at about 6 minutes to go in the fourth

Nah' mean, nah'm sayin

by Dr Things on May 26, 2009 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions

It's one of the best lineups the Magic can trot out there, statistically.

http://basketballvalue.com/teamunits.php?year=2009%20playoffs&team=ORL

Normally, SVG plays that lineup during the fourth quarter before closing the game out with the starters. Either way, it’s a lethal lineup because it’s a perfect blend of athleticism, length, etc.

penetrating, moving the ball, and his shot was fallin.

line ups with gortat on the floor are awesome. its probably because the stats are a little skewed by how productive he is with his limited minutes. i dont think we’ll ever have as good a back up center as marcin.

but i agree this line up is great in the fourth because they are defensive beasts and can take the cavs offensive momentum away as the game winds down and we put alston back in to get the ball moving

Nah' mean, nah'm sayin

by Dr Things on May 26, 2009 2:00 PM EDT reply actions

The lineups are a little skewed, but Gortat has definitely proven to be a productive player.

Marcin could easily start in the NBA .. he just happens to play behind, arguably, the best C in the league.

I expect Turk to return (it’ll be tricky, though) but Gortat is as good as gone.

Dump Rafer too, frees up more cap space.

Well, the Magic shouldn't "dump" him.

.. but Orlando could and should explore the possibility of moving him while his value is high. I’m certain he’d be content playing behind Jameer, but I think it would be pertinent to free some more cap space for Hedo, and maybe Gortat.

Support...What LBJ WISHED he had!

Support is exactly what the Magic need from the fans.

It’s also, the one thing the Cavs DON’T have!

I agree with you all…

Teams with one superstar win ONLY when paired with a GOOD SUPPORTING cast. Remember Jordan; he had Pippen, and Grant, Paxton, etc… San Antonio had a super, Duncan, supported by TWO very good players, Parker and Manu Ginibili. Also, Kobe, when the Lakers won, had Shack, plus a good surrounding team. Even now, the Lakers have Gasol, Odom and Ariza to back Kobe, although their reliability it’s still an issue…

LeBron has Williams, BUT, Williams is NO Pippen, a Shack, or even a Parker… He’s making very close to his average max, 15 to 18 points per game. The rest of the team has maxed out! They CAN’T do anything more! They just can’t. They can… are, and WILL be shut down by better players.

The Magic, in contrast have PLENTY of SUPPORT within the TEAM. Turk, Lewis, Pitruos, and Lee are a couple of notches ABOVE their supporting cast, just like LeBron is (for now…) above Howard. Above all, they play group, unselfish ball. And when Cleveland tried to guard ALL four, they left Alston, who proceeded to burn them for 18 points. And he’s the WEAK link in the Magic team! Then ther’s the Magic bench which is so much stronger and reliable, that it has outscored the Cavs 3 to1.

Williams statements can’t change those facts, and in fact only help the Magic…

by manny55 on May 26, 2009 2:18 PM EDT reply actions

Joey Crawford? or whoever are the refs will be sure to make this an uneven game

So I figure Orlando at home gives the Magic a six man, while Cavs wll get two extra men (2 of the three refs on Crawford crew), therefore Magic will have to play tough, taking with force what belongs to them without complaining about the unfairness.

7 against 6 on the floor night…

man up!
