Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Even before they met on Wednesday to hammer out a truce, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy previously had talked about the possibility of the all-star becoming unhappy enough with Van Gundy to get the coach fired one day, following the lead of some NBA franchise players.

[....]

According to those close to the organization, Van Gundy basically told Howard he didn't care if he could run him out of town. He was going to keep coaching Howard and everyone else with an edge and try to make him the best player he could be.

An interesting scoop from Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel

.. and this is the man people want fired. Puzzling.

I liked this quote from the article:

Howard: “Me and Stan. We talked. A great talk, actually. … I can’t let my frustrations get to a level where I say anything. He understands that as a player, you can get frustrated … but at the same time I have to get ready for Game 6.”

That’s good to hear.

As a Dwight Howard fan

I hope he takes it personally and develops 2 or 3 really solid go to moves so players like Perkins bother him less. That, and as I’ve seen you mention multiple times, get stronger in his lower body. Those really go hand in hand.

big + for SVG.

he sets things straight.
look,we are all making suggestions, but it’s easy to do that from your home.
and,if we lived by the 3s and perimeter in the regular, maybe it’s hard for team to abandon it now,and too risky for SVG to change style?
i think Stan does hell of a job,and i give him my full support.
so,whats the big deal with coach and dwight?
yeah, ask hedo why we lost. ask rafer. you get it.
