Dwight Howard Will Be Named the Defensive Player of the Year at 2 PM Tomorrow

The Orlando Magic have called a press conference for tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM, Third Quarter Collapse has learned. No official reason for the press conference was given, but it is highly likely that it will be to announce that Dwight Howard has won the Defensive Player of the Year Award. Tomorrow is April 21st, the first Tuesday of the postseason; last year, Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics won the award on April 22nd, also the first Tuesday of the postseason.

In addition to anchoring the league's most efficient defense, Howard led the league in total rebounds for the fourth straight season; led the league in rebounds per game for the second straight season; and led the league in blocked shots for the first time in his five-year career. The award is based on much more than just stats, of course, but his winning of the award should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed the NBA this season.

Congratulations to Dwight Howard.

3QC's first scoop (am I right?), ftw.

Congrats, Superman!

I'm the other guy at Third Quarter Collapse, with a Twitter account.

I comment WAY too much.
