The Orlando Magic have traded shooting guard Keith Bogans and cash to the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Tyronn Lue.
Go ahead and discuss the trade in this FanPost, thanks.

I personally like the move
I think it was a smart move by Otis. We fulfilled a need while gaining a little breathing space under the cap (Bogans $2.9M – Lue $2.2M + $5k cash). We had too many SGs and only 1 PG. Hopefully this allows Jameer to get that surgery and return for the POs. I liked Lue since his days back here with TMac. He was always solid for us and I believe he was the 3rd leader in scoring for us that year behind McGrady and JHoward. I hate to lose Keith, but we all knew that something had to happen.

It helps both teams
the Bucks needed a shooting guard (since Michael Redd is out for the season) and the Magic need a point guard. fair trade, hopefully it’ll work out in our favor. luckily for Keith, the Magic respected him enough to trade to a budding playoff team
The magic trading him to Milwaukee had nothing to do with any respect that they have for Keith.
They wanted Lue, probably because he’s one of Otis’ “guys” and if you’ve seen the Bucs play after Redd’s injury, well, they won’t be making the playoffs.

Yeah, with Redd out .. Milwaukee's playoff hopes have taken a big hit.
I don’t see the Bucks making it to the post-season.

Glad we were able to give up basically nothing for some depth
Bogans has been relegated to almost no minutes for over a month now anyways

Really Otis? Lue is he best you could have brought in?
For some reason this moves tells me that he is commited to resigning Hedo. I can tell he doesn’t want to make any move that will stop that from happening this offseason. Trading for Lue tells me that he’s not aiming for a championship run this season.
and there it is!!!!
i’m happy, tyronn lue is a great fit for us.. good chemistry guy, good defender, heady player … how many years does he have left after this one?
C'est la vie
Magic have a little bit of depth now; it didn’t cost the Magic much; Lue is an expiring contract and is actually cheaper than Bogans. All in all, I’m growing to be less disenchanted with the trade. Lue might even have some positive games left in him.
This trade is nothing more than a lateral move.
That’s probably the best way to describe this transaction.

Good defender?
I don’t recall that being something on Lue’s resume. He can hit threes. Of course all I remember about Lue is how he always wanted to be an Iverson clone, then got torched by him in the Finals. So they had to put Kobe on him.
OK by me
No blockbuster but enough upside to help. Glad Bogans got to go to a team that can use him and is at least a marginal contender.
Do no harm!!

Jameer's injury (probably) cost of a chance at the championship, not this trade
Lue for Bogans + cash is a reasonable trade, with respect to value (both second-tier backup quality) and need (we don’t need Bogans and desperately need a PG).
Otis could have acquired more by offering more, but a bigger trade wouldn’t have put us in a better position to contend. Nelson’s loss is what hurt us, and there’s no easy fix for that loss through a trade.
And that includes trading Turk. Because of his ballhandling ability, Turk is especially important to the team right now. I just hope Otis thought about the offseason before making this trade.
All in all, I’m happy.

As I said elsewhere, the Magic didn't need to trade Turk or any of the core pieces to get a better player.
Otis could have done a better job of trying to package Bogans/Cook/Foyle together (all expiring contracts) and see what he could get with that trio. There are better players with expiring contracts out there to allow the team to maintain long-term flexibility (Felton, for example).
Again, given the state of the economy, expiring contracts are a bit more valuable now and I think Smith could have taken advantage of that fact. But it’s too late now ..
Essentially, this trade almost guarantees the Magic won’t get further than the 2nd Rd. of the Playoffs this year (Orlando isn’t going to be one & done, I completely disagree with that "prediction"). Had Jameer been healthy, I felt Orlando had just as good of a chance to get to the Finals as both the Cavs & Celtics. But with Nelson gone, that possibility is thrown out the window.

I like it.
As has been stated, we got him for nothing (no disrespect to Bogans, i based that comment on his output this year and NOT to a lack of talent).
Lue has been around for a while, so we get a nice, serviceable vet. Question though…
Where does he fit in the depth chart? Will he start?

For now, but I think he'll pass up AJ for that starting job in the long run
Damn, we miss you Jameer
