Player Comparison #4

Recently, Orlando Magic small forward Hedo Turkoglu finally became a father after his wife gave birth to a baby girl. It's always good to celebrate the creation of new life in this world, unfortunately, Turkoglu can't avoid what is slowly becoming an unavoidable event.

Yes. I want to play a game.

Below I present two players.

Player A:

Season A -

Minutes Per Game (31.7)

TS% (57.5%)

eFG% (55.5%)

Offensive Rating (109)

Win Shares (7.4)

Player B:

Season B -

Minutes Per Game (36.9)

TS% (53.7%)

eFG% (47.8%)

Offensive Rating (107)

Win Shares (7.8)

One of these two players is indeed Hidayet Turkoglu. The other player, however, can not be named. It can be said that this person shares absolutely no similarities to Turkoglu in regards to style of play. However, both individuals share a comparable development path in their respective careers.

Star-divide

Bo Outlaw:

1997-1998 Season -

Minutes Per Game (31.7)

TS% (57.5%)

eFG% (55.5%)

Offensive Rating (109)

Win Shares (7.4) in 82 games

Hedo Turkoglu:

2008-2009 Season -

Minutes Per Game (36.9)

TS% (53.7%)

eFG% (47.8%)

Offensive Rating (107)

projected Win Shares (7.8) in 82 games

If you guessed Outlaw as the link to Turkoglu, congratulations, you have won the game.

But if you didn't, be lucky that the penalty isn't impending death .

Until next time.

I’m surprised Outlaw has such a high ORtg, he’s tagged in my head as a defensive specialist…

The main reason for that is the fact Bo was fairly efficient from the field. His career ORtg is 110.

Most big men tend to have high ORtg’s because most of the time, they’re getting the majority of their points in the paint. High efficiency from the field thus fuels a high ORtg, as a result.

I guessed Ho Grant. Similar in their styles of play… and styles of eye-wear.

Not bad. Horace Grant is a good guess. You're right .. both he & Bo were similar in some ways.

Only difference, on face value, is that Horace had a more perimeter-oriented game offensively.
