Nelson seeking second opinion on shoulder before surgery

All hope may not be lost:

Nelson is seeking another medical opinion on his dislocated shoulder, part of a rehab plan outlined a few weeks ago by his agent, Steve Mountain.

Nelson said he has a "pretty good-sized tear" in the labrum in his right shoulder Feb. 2 against the Dallas Mavericks.

He wants to rehab and attempt to play, but Smith has intimated that the long-term risks might not be worth the short-term rewards, given Nelson's penchant for contact.

Smith also notes that Nelson is also dealing with the injury to "his strong [right] hand."

I think it's obvious

that he was to come back as soon as possible and doesn’t want to have surgery.

What a waste this season’s been :(

I honestly didn't think there would be a chance of him coming back

But as we go on (it’s been what, 2-3 weeks since the injury) I’m surprised he hasn’t had the surgery yet. That has to be telling. Keep in mind, if he doesn’t have the surgery within the next month or so, he won’t be ready for the beginning of next season. What I would give to have a 70% ‘Meer opposed to 100% anything we have. Although, when push comes to shove, I bet he has the surgery, you know Otis won’t want to jeopardize the future and this is one instance where I agree with Otis. Although I’d have no gripes if Jameer the warrior emerges and wants to give it a go!

that's what I'm saying--

he’s been really waffling about getting surgery. And yes, that’s not a decision anyone should take likely, but it has been weeks and after seeing how awful the Magic are without him, Jameer is probably frothing at the mouth to get back into the game.
