Around SBN: MLB Trade Deadline: Astros' fans react to Oswalt trade

Magic General Manager Otis Smith said he has no plans to deal either C Marcin Gortat or PF Brandon Bass, even though he can trade them starting Dec. 15.

"It's the same as it was before. I'm happy with those guys," Smith said on Monday after the club finished practice in Los Angeles.

Neither Gortat nor Bass can be dealt until that date because they were signed to free-agent deals this summer.

Gortat and Bass (along with VC, future draft picks, and/or cash considerations)...

….should be saved until FA season next summer when Wade becomes an unrestricted FA.

If Wade wants Orlando, he’ll get Orlando one way or another.
MIA would be stupid to NOT get anything in return, especially if teams like Dallas would pay top dollar for a young “starter” like Gortat and serviceable players like Carter and Bass. Wade already gave them their first ‘chip, now it’s our turn.

Not sure how this is news

I mean, if he did plan to trade Gortat or Bass, he wouldn’t tell the media about it.

It's not news, but it's worth posting for those that care.

It’s no different than reporting that Jameer Nelson will remain the starter when he returns, etc.

about Jameer

maybe he should do the VC thing and come off the bench for the first game or two before returning to the starting line-up. Remember the Finals last year with Alston?

There's no need for that. This isn't the Finals.
