Stan Van Gundy wants to know which Orlando Magic player has the best nickname.

As I was perusing the Orlando Magic roster this morning, I realized something - the team has a ton of players with nicknames. So, I decided the logical way to figure out which one is the best is to ask the community.

A few things. I know that Carter has a ton of nicknames but I figured "Vinsanity" makes the most sense, at this stage in his career. In case you'd like to vote for one of Carter's other aliases, feel free to choose 'Other' in the poll and specify your choice in the comments section below. Likewise, I'm aware that people like to call Marcin Gortat the "Polish Hammer" but in speaking with him in the past, he prefers another nickname - the "Polish Machine" - so I chose that one for him.

Enjoy.

Hard. I chose “Polish Machine” but my vote is really for “Polish Hammer”. Love “Dad”, “White Chocolate”, “Whit Eboy”, and “The Animal” though.

My vote was also for Polish Hammer

Somebody should let him know that you don’t get to pick your own nickname. He’s the Polish Hammer, end of discussion

I always preferred Dime's name for Dwight ...

The Centaur: Half man, half beast.

But I went for dad. AJ looks like the village elder of the NBA these days. There’s coaches younger than him.

The Centaur is a good one but Howard has the "Superman" name on lockdown.

I dunno - Adidas is still referring to him as Manchild

I don’t think I’d heard that one since Dwight’s rookie year until their new ad campaign

AJ is old, all right..

He’s so old, he looks like he could be Greg Oden’s younger brother.

He's currently two-thirds man, one-third amazing. Which, let's face it, is still a pretty good ratio.

See the thing about "Air France" is...

…Pietrus is from Guadeloupe

It's not a dunk unless your hand makes contact with the rim. Yeah, I'm talkin' to you, "Superman..."

Yea, but its still a French place, even a territory of France I think? Pietrus can play for France’s national team too.

by derekk on Nov 30, 2009 3:43 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, it's an overseas territory of France

Kind of like American Samoa, except the people in Guadeloupe have representatives in the French Assembly and Senate that actually get to vote.

Most surprising poll results to me ever.. lol.
I voted Ice-O, because Rashard Lewis is as cold-blooded as they come.

You guys must be youngsters

Vinsanity fits the best of all these names, just because it has fit for so long. A bunch of teams have a “dad” on their team, aka an old guy, and there is another (former) “Superman” that I have heard about, but no doubt their is only one guy that brought Vinsanity to life, and the name fits for the things that guy has done (and maybe just maybe some things to come…)

Yeah, but our Dad can beat their Dad!

Oddly enough, Carter and Williams entered the NBA the same year

No-neck entered the NBA one year earlier.
