Orlando Magic 113, Houston Rockets 104: Immediate Postgame Comment Thread
Despite the absence of star center Dwight Howard, who had a routine day off, the Orlando Magic dealt the Houston Rockets a 113-104 defeat. It was a dominant offensive performance by Orlando, with all five of its starters scoring in double-figures, led by Rashard Lewis' 22 points in 33 minutes. Vince Carter broke out of his 31% shooting slump by hitting 8-of-19 from the field for 19 points. J.J. Redick and Ryan Anderson combined for 26 points on 18 shots off the Magic's bench. However, it was Marcin Gortat who shone the brightest tonight. In relief of Howard, he scored 14 points, grabbed 14 revounds, and blocked 6 shots in 36 minutes of work.
Rookie Chase Budinger led the Rockets with 17 points. Jermaine Taylor, a graduate of the University of Central Florida, impressed with 14 points in 29 minutes off Houston's bench.

? for you guys when ever we trade gortat what do you think we can get for him as far as a player and pick combo or what ever you think we can get.
It's impossible to predict because the NBA market changes.

It's not a dunk unless your hand makes contact with the rim. Yeah, I'm talkin' to you, "Superman..."
Fixed.

Throw caution into the air!
I’m right out optimistic, no if’s, and’s, or but’s about it. Look guys; this team is only running at 60% of its’ potential. The three-point shot isn’t there yet… the defense works in spurts; the shot selection is spotty… YET…
The Magic are doing things they never did… in a consistent basis:
1. REBOUNDING- Clearly out-rebounding EVERY team in sight… i KNOW; Yao it’s not there this season… still… LOOK AT THE NUMBERS!
2. DEFENSE- The TEAM DEFENSE needs to improve, but individually… look at the BLOCKING numbers… OUT OF THE CHARTS!
3. DEPTH- The BENCH is as good, or better that the regulars… even when the Team benches a mayor player, like Dwight, or Rashard Lewis: Not even a a slight drop in the pulse!
4. This one is difficult to put in words… I would say, NO INDISPENSABLE players. We ALWAYS had them; be they Lewis, Nelson, or Howard. It has ALWAYS been VERY difficult to win without one or more of them… NOT ANYMORE! Try taking Kobe away from LA; or Lebron James from Cleveland… THEY’RE NOT THE SAME TEAM! But WE ARE STILL THE SAME TEAM… NO WEAK SPOTS!!!
We are a LONG way from top form. But WHEN Howard gets his steady 65% free-throws P/G; Carter finds his three-point range; and the TEAM gets into its’ offensive flow AND seals those defensive holes… I only got this to say to those “other” teams the so-called-experts have chosen to win it all… BE AFRAID… BE VERY AFRAID… ’cause this Magic team is SCARY GOOD!!!
Magic are rolling.
Good to see VC break out of his funk.

all i can say is...
good job magic!!!! anyways, regarding a trade for marcin gortat, i think if jameer keeps playing low percentage of shots then we should find a way to look for another valuable pg
what we do in life echoes in eternity
That won't be necessary, the Magic don't need another PG.

Well, I went to my high school alma mater’s homecoming, where EVERYONE in town was too, by the way. They won 42-0, and are 6-0. So far, so good.
Then, I FINALLY get home to check on my Magic, and whataya know…THEY WON TOO, and without Dwight, no less.
A good day, indeed.
Good stuff.

Gortat is probably more valuable than anything we could trade him for at moment...
No way I want to see the Polish Hammer leave. But it would be pretty interesting seeing a Hammer/Superman matchup.
OT, does Dwight have any nicknames other than Superman? I don’t really like it but it seems to have stuck…. I think I’ve heard people on TQC call him Optimus Prime and Ironman.

We kept him because nothing equaling his value is available. I still say what I have been sayin, we will have a twin tower with shard @ 3 and a 6’7 SG (Barnes or Peaches) tallest starting lineup in the league.
Thats me chilling with Nick Anderson

I say that when Dwight is playing at his peak, he's in 'Optimus Prime' mode.
