Ready For Opening Night?

Via the Orlando Magic:

The Orlando Magic will begin their defense of the Eastern Conference Championship when they face the Philadelphia 76ers on opening night this coming Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.

The Magic’s good luck charm from last year’s playoff run, 7-year-old Gina Marie Incandela, will perform the national anthem to get the night started.  Fans of all ages will be able to enjoy the floor and aerial stunts of the Cirque Aerial halftime show.  In addition, every fan in attendance for opening night will receive an Eastern Conference Champions replica banner and Kia Motors Rally Towel.

I remember being nervous as hell everytime that girl would sing during the playoffs

Hoping she’d do good, and the anticipation of the game would put a knot in my stomach.

my dad's so depressed he doesn't have season tickets this year :(

This is also the first season in 3 years I won’t be going to the games. Now I’m just sad.

I'm a girl.

Don’t be so sad. Most televised year ever plus you get to save money for more tickets in the new arena which will be an epic upgrade.

well I don't even live in Orlando anymore :|

Plus, season ticket holders get first choice of new arena seats. That was why my dad was doing the whole thing in the first place.

I'm a girl.

Arg! :/ There’s still some chances for 2010 season tickets or no, even without previous ones? Also, there’s some really nice 10-game and such ticket plans. Thats a lot, we have season tickets but we “draft” and split them up with many people so I only have like 8 I think out of 40-ish home games.

I'm looking forward to the Kia Motors Rally Towel

Yea, I got the same exact feeling Wasabi. However, Cavs didnt look fully gelled yet, missing West who woulda helped, and Shaq looked amazing the 1st quarter. I just dont think he has the age to keep up a full game or even series anymore. The pick and roll defense still sucks, and Wallace was launching 3’s like nothing, as in, any tall player can shoot 3’s still i.e. Lewis, Anderson, even VC on some of their guards.

One thing I'm curious to see is the type of impact Kuester not being there does for the Cavs offense.

He was a reason why Cleveland was such an excellent team, offensively, but now he’s gone and from what I saw last night, it looks like the Cavaliers are reverting to a ton of isolation plays, etc.

Yup.

And once again, Charles Barkley is on the Magic bandwagon!! He is the ONLY analyst that picked the Magic to come out of the East last year, and he has the Magic and Celtis tied for 1st place this year. He’s about the only one I’ll listen to anymore because he tells like it is, and isn’t concerned with politics!

I saw that.

The Cavs look like the same team...

Still trying to figure out how some people still have them ahead of us. They still don’t have a second scorer, and I think the impact of Anthony Parker and Jamaio Moon will be marginal at best. Shaq is old, is jumping like a old man and they’re still playing the same style of ball they played last year. Not gonna work IMO.

At one point they had Z and Shaq on the floor at the same time. Was that the big plan? Please play that lineup against us. We have better players and a better coach. I feel really good about our chances.

The Celtics are getting older and older, and slower and slower. They’re gonna have a problem with our defense if we’re anywhere as good as we were last year on that side of the ball.

I just dont see how the Cavs can stop Lakers, Spurs if they even got to the big stage somehow. I really dont like how the Cavs FO built around LBJ. I only like Varejao (for most matchups) and West.

If the C’s woulda ran more that woulda been a BLOWOUT, no way either 1 can run with us

I know what Bo dont know.

A little presumptuous to say, have to wait and see.

Boston is scary good

Don’t think we are going to have an easy time with them. They can play defense like no other team in the league, yes even our Magic. They can guard Dwight one on one and not get destroyed, and they have KG and Wallace to defend Rashard now instead of Glen Davis…
Dwight vs. Perkins
Lewis vs. Garnett
Pietrus vs. Pierce
Carter vs. Allen
Nelson vs. Rondo

Not an easy matchup on any level there. That’s what you call two great teams going head to head, it will be who wants it more. The Magic can win, but it will definitely be up for grabs, especially in the playoffs.

Completely happy to see the refs back even with all their problems, and they didnt look to have too much rust either. Theyve been doing just fine with keeping the superstar calls in check so far, Im alil hopeful it will happen less this year. And I appreciate Dwight’s foul call rate going from super high (replacement refs) to just high again as a backhanded compliment.

by derekk on Oct 28, 2009 12:22 AM EDT reply actions

Biggest difference between replacements and the real refs? The real ones know how to go with the flow of a game and stay more consistent with foul calling. Letting a rather very close number of fouls and rough play go both ways so the game flow is good.

Uhh, it's one game.

I think people need to reserve judgment about the Cavaliers and Celtics until the season is in full swing.
