Site Announcement: Jon Nichols Joining the 3QC Team Next Week

Third Quarter Collapse is proud to announce that Jon E. Nichols, the man behind Basketball-Statistics.com and an occasional contributor to Hardwood Paroxysm, will join our team as a weekly contributor beginning next week. Jon's one of the brightest statistical minds in all of basketball, and we're happy to have him aboard to provide exclusive Orlando Magic statistical analysis.

Please welcome Jon aboard, and stay tuned for his first post early next week.

What statistical analyst worth his salt isn't?

We do all the quirky things that work but get ignored (play defense, move the ball quickly and constantly, have a ton of guys with high eFG%)

Read below.

I will say that the Magic are an enjoyable team to cover because of the style of play, etc.

Orlando Magic should be an excellent team to add analysis to because this team has a good style both sides of the floor and the depth is very good.

3QC

…for the emotive and intellectual Magic fan.

by magicfaninTN on Oct 23, 2009 4:01 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Just to clarify, Jon Nichols isn't a Magic fan but ..

Ben and I felt it wouldn’t hurt to add a person, with his talents as a statistician, to prove an outsider’s perspective on the Orlando Magic. I know that we try to be as objective as possible, but it doesn’t hurt to bring in an individual that adds to that objectivity. After Stephen Ilardi joined 48 Minutes of Hell, we felt it was a no-brainer to add Jon. What better than have an in-house statistician for 3QC? Easiest decision to make .
