A JJ Redick trade proposal

Watch out Orlando Magic fans I propose to knock your socks off. Are you waiting for it? (Normally I would just post this in Fanshots and go away, but I would rather fans see this quickly. It is after all a JJ Redick trade proposal.) So with all the hedging, and working to avoid a minimum word count, here goes. Prepare to be blown away.

Mikki Moore for Brian Cook and JJ Redick

Actually, in all honesty, depending on how much the Magic are looking for an active big who screams alot, Moore could fit in. He didn't miss any games last season (or not very many), and is a pretty good outside shooter who can hit that shot with consistency. He does have lobster claws for hands so beware throwing him the ball unless he can catch with the upper half of his body. He doesn't have shot blocking skills or tremendous rebounding ability. Mostly, as I said, he screams alot and can hit the shot from 18 feet. On the other hand, JJ Redick is no real prize either. (Hello, 11th overall? I'm not a Magic fan and I want to slap Otis Smith on that one.)

So what do you think? Feel free to comment in this thread here if you want to peruse the "trade Ron" fest that currently litters StR. There's a poll here if you like those also. Anyway, enjoy your day.

Don’t like the trade, I would personally rather Orlando trade for a point guard or a more traditional style power foward. Never been a Mikki Moore fan.

Brian Cook is rotting garbage

and SVG is rotting JJ like garbage. Moore is no prize in the sky, but he is a superbly solid backup that will force teams to not constantly double Howard. He’ll play the four and the five, and is a great team player.
With Nelson, Shard, Turkey-glue and the BigD needing the ball, Moore will give the Magic twenty minutes of solid effort, points, success and as pookey mentioned… lots of screaming (which you’ll actualyl appreciate if he’s on your team).
He pairs up well with Howard, in my estimation, but I’d be dubious of putting him out there with Shard at the 4 (though, he can run the floor).

Personally, I wouldn’t do this from the Magics perspective, but then again I overvalue JJ Redick, but now he is not giving the Magic any value. The big stack of poo that is Cook I’m certain won’t be missed. So, considering the metric that truly matters – contribution – the trade works, because Moore will help the Magic significantly more than the outgoing players.

You need to explain your love affair of JJ Redick IW

Cuz frankly I don’t get it.

Kid was a rock in college

He’s a cocky sharpshooter. Don’t get me wrong, he’ll never be a starter. But I see Boobie Gibson, and I think… that could be JJ.
JJ Redick is a defensive liability, but I’d also put him in with twenty seconds left and my team down three. I’d throw him the ball with thirty seconds left and my team up two so he can nail those frows. He’s clutch, he’s brent barry. Put the kid in the game.
Basically, I think of him like I think of Douby. We both overrate the Doubster, and want to see him make it in the league, which causes us to overvalue him in comparison to his realistic contributions. Honestly pookey, if you think Douby can make it in the league, I don’t see why JJ can’t make it.

That's a fair comparison IW

Would Philly the Doubster in return for Narreesee Speightsin a trade you think?

no chance

I couldn’t tell whether you were beign sarcastic, but the old adage of not trading big for small goes double when your trading a big with lots of time to discover his upside for a small with less upside who can’t play the point guard role on a team looking for a point guard, not another wing. Philly’s got plenty of small talent, spending the time to develop Speights’ll prove more valuable in the longterm.

Douby??

I’m a little out of the loop. First of all who is Douby? Secondly, can JJ handle the ball? Could he be moved to point to back up Jameer? He’s got the height to defend point guards and would get on the floor a lot quicker. Plus with Turk on the floor, he could still defend the smaller guards while playing off the ball. Turk handles well and is a good point forward, like the young Magic Johnson when he played all five positions

Quincy Douby plays for the Kings

Supplemental talk to JJ Redick. IW and I are both Kings fans. Redick is a small undersized 2 and so is Douby. That’s why he came up.
