Dwight

D12 was having one of those games where he racks up turnovers and can’t hit his free throws. Thats bad Dwight, which while not being overly terrible is not enough for this team to win. I hope we see good Dwight today.

Having Gortat play is great! And with JJ being in the mix, I guess, that gives the game an element of intrigue. I mean anything those two contribute is just icing on the cake.

At least the blog is up and running today...

Maybe that will mean good luck for the Magic… GO MAGIC!!

Hm

It’s early, but we’re doing well so far. Love that we’re crashing the boards.

Superman

He’s completely dominating this game so far.

Evans

I never understand why people foul a dude going for a layup. Just let him go … jeezus.

One of the things that's always bugged me

Let him go or knock him on his behind. Don’t let him get the shot up and don’t help him up once he’s down.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 3:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice to have a lead...

5-point lead despite the fact that we haven’t forced any turnovers. Nice.

Dwight is taking over this game. Think Stan will take him out to start the second quarter?

SVG

If he wants to win Game 3, I play Dwight all 48 minutes.

Answer

Yes, Dwight’s out, and Marcin’s in. “I’m not afraid of anyone. I go up against Dwight Howard every day in practice.”

Gotta love the Warlock.

... bad move, personally. I’d play Dwight all 48 … you have a day off in between. I think you need to send a message to the Raptors that you want to end this series.

Okay, seriously, Maurice

Either put the guy on his ass or let him make the shot. Don’t foul him and let him make it.

Magic

... we look out of sync without Dwight.

Yup

It’s time to put him back in. And unless he gets in foul trouble, he probably won’t sit the rest of the game.

Dwight

... 6 minute mark, he should be back in.

Secret weapon

He plays horribly all season, then the playoffs come around and BANG! he’s suddenly Dan freaking Marjerle.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 3:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Turk

Dwight and Rashard are the only guys to shoot free throws for us. Why won’t Hedo take it to the basket?

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 3:58 PM EDT reply actions

Has there been a single 3 second violation called against Toronto at all in this series?

by TheGiantSquid on Apr 26, 2008 4:04 PM EDT reply actions

Interesting, since they pretty much planted themselves in the paint during the past two games to cut down on the Magic driving to the basket.

Conspiracy!!

by TheGiantSquid on Apr 26, 2008 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, nothing like a crowd of vocal Canadians to get me shaking in my flip flops.

by TheGiantSquid on Apr 26, 2008 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t know, but Toronto has thoroughly outscored us thus far in this quarter, with Jason Kapono leading the way. How embarrassing.

by TheGiantSquid on Apr 26, 2008 4:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Toronto bench outscoring ours 16-13, which isn’t so bad considering how poorly our bench has played previously.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 4:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Toronto scored 27 points in the quarter to our 17.

Wow… Just looking at the boxscore and Toronto’s only hit 6 of their free throws. Sweet. Ugh, but Dwight hasn’t hit any at all. But he’s also has five blocks. Don’t we usually win the games in which Dwight has 5 blocks?

by TheGiantSquid on Apr 26, 2008 4:20 PM EDT up reply actions

A bad second quarter...

The Magic shot just 6 of 18 from the field, including an ugly 1 for 9 from three point range in the second. Meanwhile, the Raptors have a fantastic 16/2 assist/turnover ratio, with the Magic just 12/9. Magic are outrebounding the Raptors, though 26-21.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 4:32 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah

Things went poorly in the second. Nice for Evans to hit that three, though.

... and we’re turning the ball over entirely too much. This is awful.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 4:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm kinda surprised

We’re down only 7 despite turning the ball over on nearly 25% of our possessions. The game is slipping away, though. Stan needs to get Turk out.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 4:43 PM EDT reply actions

Careless turnovers!

Magic need to stop being so careless with the ball!

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 4:43 PM EDT reply actions

Bogans...

Nice seeing Bogans shooting so well coming off the bench with 11 points. Turk will have to pick up his game in the fourth… only 6 points so far. Howard is still dominant underneath when he gets the ball. We’re still very capable of winning this game.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 4:54 PM EDT reply actions

A better third quarter...

Magic outscored Toronto 25-21 while shooting 9 of 16 from the field. Raptors shot just 8 of 19 from the field. However, the Magic turned the ball over 7 times, and Howard is 1 for 6 from the free throw line for the game.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:03 PM EDT reply actions

Okay, seriously

How many chances have we had to take the lead? And how many shots have we missed in those situations? Ugh.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:10 PM EDT reply actions

We need Turk too...

I’d feel better if Turk can make some shots. That was a wide open three he missed.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:11 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah

He killed us in the third quarter with those turnovers. But it’s the fourth quarter, and he needs to get it going.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions

It's been forever

Since we’ve been able to call him The Closer. He’s coming through today, though.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Ugh...

Hedo has 7 turnovers for the game, in addition to just 3 of 11 shooting. he does have 7 rebounds and 2 steals, though.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:19 PM EDT reply actions

I Heart Rashard

He’s taking the ball to the basket more often than usual. I like his aggressiveness.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

Lewis!

Great drive…. but big FT miss.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

Raptors going with Ford and Calderon together

They don’t play together much, but when they do, the Raptors are porous defensively: 131 points per 100 possessions allowed.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:26 PM EDT reply actions

Dagger!!

Turk and Lewis with their threes clinch a HUGE win!!

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:29 PM EDT reply actions

Not so fast

With the Raptors’ three-point shooters, I’m not putting this one in the win column just yet.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions

A great 4th quarter...

Nelson with 10 pts, Lewis with 10 pts, and Turk with 7 pts have done all the scoring in the quarter for the Magic.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:31 PM EDT reply actions

Great 3 pt shooting...

Magic are 5 of 7 shooting threes in the fourth.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:32 PM EDT reply actions

How about this effort

Dwight with a career-high 8 blocks, Lewis tying a season-high 27 points…

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 5:33 PM EDT reply actions

no key turnovers

And hopefully no Tracy McGrady like comments.

by mr407 on Apr 26, 2008 5:34 PM EDT reply actions

Exactly...

Magic have got to finish the Raptors off… they’re going to be a desperate team in Game 5.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:35 PM EDT reply actions

A year ago today

Orlando was down 0-3 to the Pistons. Go Sixers

by mr407 on Apr 26, 2008 5:37 PM EDT reply actions

The Magic...

trailed at the end of three 74-73 and 83-80 early in the fourth before outscoring the Raptors 25-11. I believe this is only the second time all year the Magic have won a game they trailed after three quarters.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:38 PM EDT reply actions

This series...

as Jameer Nelson goes, so go the Magic. A great team effort for the win!

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:41 PM EDT reply actions

I wish

Game 5 was on national television.

by mr407 on Apr 26, 2008 5:43 PM EDT reply actions

The 4th quarter...

Magic outscored Toronto 33-20, shooting 9 of 16 from the field, including 5 of 7 from three point range, and 10 of 15 from the free throw line. The Raptors shot just 9 of 25 from the field, including 1 of 7 from three point range.

Yeah, that really stinks that Game 5 won’t be on TNT or ESPN.

by Mike from Illinois on Apr 26, 2008 5:46 PM EDT reply actions

Awesome

What a great win. Nelson has ice in his veins after reeling off, what was it, like 10 straight Magic points? Howard couldn’t hit his free throws again, and we did turn it over a lot, but the D, especially from Howard and Lewis, was tremendous. Who would have thought that Lewis could be such a factor at that end of the court?

by Eyriq the Red on Apr 26, 2008 6:23 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah

Gotta give it up to everyone today. They did their thing. Rashard was tremendous, clearly the best all-around game he’s had with us. And Dwight… wow.

by Evan Dunlap on Apr 26, 2008 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Lewis

That game has his PER up to 19+. Not bad at all.
