Orlando Magic/Toronto Raptors Playoff Schedule

In case you're curious, here's the schedule for the upcoming Magic/Raptors playoff series:

  • Game 1: Sunday, April 20th, at Orlando, 12:30 PM, TNT
  • Game 2: Tuesday, April 22nd, at Orlando, 7:30 PM, NBA TV
  • Game 3: Thursday, April 24th, at Toronto, 7:30 PM, NBA TV
  • Game 4: Saturday, April 26th, at Toronto, 3:00 PM, TNT

The next three games are marked "if necessary." They'll be necessary. No way this series ends in a sweep.

  • Game 5: Monday, April 28th, at Orlando, 7:30 PM, NBA TV
  • Game 6: Thursday, May 1st, at Toronto, time TBD, TV station TBD
  • Game 7: Saturday, May 3rd: at Orlando, time TBD, TNT

Yeah, I know, it sucks that games 2 and 3 are on NBA TV, which not everyone has. After a season of Magic fans having to put up with FSN's crap, the last thing we should have to deal with is not being able to see our team IN THE PLAYOFFS. But as Brian Schmitz notes, Sun Sports may choose to televise those games locally.

I’m interested to know what you think about this:

Two separate writers at Sports Illustrated have predicted that Toronto will beat the Magic in the first round. Chris Mannix says it’ll all come down to the point guards. He has Toronto winning in 7 games.

Marty Burns, whom I’ve felt never had any particular love for the Magic, doesn’t even have that much faith and has Toronto winning in 6.

Not that I think neither writer don’t have very good points—they do. Our backcourt is weak and defense lax at times. I was just a little perturbed that not one but two writers at SI would give the Magic so little credit. Like I said, I’m interested in what you have to say about this. I, personally, find their lack of faith disturbing.

We’re a better team than Toronto is. There’s not much disputing that. We’re deeper, more talented, and have a better coach. It just so happens that the Raptors are the worst possible matchup for us. That’s why there are only three unreasonable predictions in this series:

  • Raptors in 4
  • Magic in 4
  • Raptors in 5

Each team should win at least one game, and the Magic should win two. But I don’t mind the lack of attention. We can make a name for ourselves.
