Tonight's Preseason Game: CSKA Moscow vs. Orlando Magic

October 10th, 2008
Amway Arena
7:00 PM
No TV
Probable starters:
J.R. Holden PG Jameer Nelson
Trajan Langdon SG Mickael Pietrus
Ramunas Siskauskas SF Hedo Turkoglu
Matjaz Smodis PF Rashard Lewis
David Andersen C Dwight Howard

Okay, I took a stab at naming Moscow's starters based on its website, but I'm only reasonably sure of the backcourt. You can count on J.R. Holden and Trajan Langdon being in the starting lineup tonight.

The last time the Magic faced an international team, they won easily, defeating Team China by a score of 116-92.

In today's Orlando Sentinel, Kyle Hightower has a piece about European basketball teams' appeal to American-born players. Meanwhile, John Denton has a roundup of sorts, which includes this quote from Brian Cook, who disputes the notion that he's out-of-shape, as Stan Van Gundy said he was earlier this week:

"I've lost 10 pounds from last season and I'm in good shape, but all I can concentrate on is the stuff that I can control."

Stuff like his jump shot, maybe. Again, Cookie Monster shot 1-for-10 against Charlotte. I know it's only the preseason, but still...

Anyone else hoping for a Marcin Gortat sighting tonight? And how about at least taking a look at Dwayne Jones and Jeremy Richardson?

Tip's at 7, but once again it doesn't appear as though the game will be televised. Bummer.

Go Magic.

Can't wait

I’m going to this game; I’m pretty excited to see a European team. This game might not be as popular as the other pre-season games, since they’re playing a team that’s not familiar to a lot of NBA and/or Magic fans.

My dad and I are going too! :) This will be a new experience for both of us — I’ve never watched a non-US team before.

I hope you and your dad have fun!

What about me and my dad?

That’s so weird. I’m going with my dad, too. Er, three. Evs.

Have fun, y’all.

We were in 219 row G. When that little boy won that bike, that’s where we were :B

Did you not hear JJ's ovation then?

I have to laugh every time he comes in. I wonder if its embarrassing by now?

I know!

Hahaha. When he came in early at the Atlanta game, people went nuts. I was like, seriously? But then he played really well.

Tonight…not so much.

He was so excited afterwards :D He kept bouncing up and down in his seat (and kicking the back of mine). It was annoying and sweet at the same time :)

Tell me about it

Since you posted the URL to your Last FM page, I looked through your music…you and I have the same taste, practically. However, you don’t have Arctic Monkeys and The Last Shadow Puppets :( I saw that you have Cut Copy…you might like Ghostland Observatory, if you want to check them out (though they’re not quite the same).

Apologies for the off-topic!

Carry on

Music is cool for off-topic discussion. As long as we don’t get into politics, religion, etc. That stuff’s entirely too touchy.

Just to keep the comments on topic, though, maybe we could move the music discussion to a fanpost? I have no problem with that.

Only a suggestion. Not an edict from me or anything.
