Denton: Magic are in Talks with Chris Webber

Chris Webber and Dwight Howard
Chris Webber, playing for the Pistons last season, used to fight the Magic's Dwight Howard for rebounds. This year, the two may be teammates, as the Magic are in negotiations to sign Webber.

John Denton is The Man for bringing us the scoop that the Orlando  Magic are talking with free-agent power forward Chris Webber. His source indicates the only issue is playing time: Webber wants to be a significant contributor, not a role player. Considering that 3QC readers made Webber their top choice for big-man help in a poll I conducted last week, this news should please many Magic fans.

I'm not sold that Webber solves our rebounding issues, but I look at it this way. We can do a lot worse, and we probably can't do much better without trading significant pieces. We only need a big-man rental anyway, so if the Magic bring Webber aboard, it'd be a good move.
